Dehydrated Maca powder

ymara Food Organic Maca

Maca, or Lepidium meyenii, is a root plant grown at high altitudes in the Peruvian Andes. Maca has been known for its medicinal properties since the Neolithic period.

This tuber is one of the very few plants that can survive in the extreme climatic conditions of the Andean highlands (between 3,500 and 4,200 metres above sea level).

Maca grows in semi-desert conditions, under relentless sunshine and high temperatures during the day, intense frost at night, strong and sustained winds that dry up most plants causing significant soil erosion

It is still found in the wild in the Andes, in the highlands of the Puna, where it is called “chichicara” in Quechua and “januckara” in Aymara.

This plant is mainly known as “Peruvian ginseng” or “Peruvian viagra” because of its ability to enhance libido and help to fight male infertility.

Benefits

  • Considered a natural aphrodisiac.
  • High content of glucosinolates and macamides that increase energy levels and fight physical and mental fatigue, as well as stress.
  • Increases fertility.
  • High source of iron, iodine, magnesium and zinc.
  • High source of vitamin B, C and E complex.
  • High source of phytosterols that help reduce cholesterol levels and strengthen the immune system.
  • Compared to other plants in the same category, maca has the highest concentration of calcium.
  • Rich in potassium.
  • Contains fatty acids: alpha-linolenic acid, palmitic acid, oleic acid, and 19 amino acids.

Dehydrated Incan berries

Physalis Peruviana, or inca berry as it is more commonly called, originates from the Andes. The plant produces red-orange berries enclosed in sepals of the same colour that are generally toxic.

However, some mature cape gooseberries produce edible, exquisite and highly decorative fruits. The incan berries have a pleasant sour taste.

They are often referred to as “coqueret del Perú” in Peruvian, “amour en cage” (love in a cage) or “lanternes japonaises” (Japanese lanterns) in French.

Aymara Food’s dehydrated organic incan berries are rich in minerals and trace elements. The perfect guilt-free snack that is both organic and healthy!
