Aymara Food Organic Lucuma

Pouteria lucuma is a tree of the sapotaceae family that gives a fruit known by the Andean natives as lucuma. This fruit from Peru is considered a superfood.

The lucuma was nicknamed by the Incas “tree of life” or “gold of the Incas”. Its sweet taste is similar to that of maple syrup. This fruit grows in the mountainous regions of the Andes.

In South America, lucuma is very popular in desserts, especially in the form of ice cream and cake.


  • High content of vitamin B3, also acts against stress and the proper functioning of the nervous system in general.
  • Good source of carbohydrates, vitamins (including beta-carotene and niacin) and minerals (including zinc, potassium, calcium, magnesium and iron). Beta-carotene improves the functioning of the immune system.
  • Good source of vitamin A, necessary for the development of good vision.
  • Despite its sweet taste, lucuma has a relatively low carbohydrate level (about 15%) and a low glycemic index. It is recommended for people with diabetes.
  • It consists of vitamin B1, necessary for the proper functioning of the muscular system.
  • Promotes memory and skin health.
  • Good source of antioxidants and dietary fibre.
